Beef cattle studs in North East Victoria opened their gates on Day 7 of Stock &amp; Land Beef Week.

Beef cattle studs in north east Victoria, and one from Tasmania, welcomed people on-farm to inspect their animals.

WITHERSWOOD ANGUS: Principal John Woodruff; Don Star, Bungowannah; manager Ian Peake; and Kate and John Timmins, Buffalo, with Millah Murrah Kingdom K35 (the $150,000 record priced Angus bull).

Don Star, Bungowannah, had a closer look at Millah Murrah Kingdom K35, which Witherswood Angus principals John and Joan Woodruff are very pleased with. His weaner bull and heifer calves look terrific and they have used him solidly again this year at Witherswood; in their AI and ET programs and as a backup bull.

GLENPOLL POLL HEREFORDS: Flavio Tonini, Wollongong NSW, Roger Gregory, Wangaratta, principal Ferruccio Tonini and Luke Lavis, Bungowannah NSW, with three year-old bull, Glenpoll K1 Wrangler F12 B29 (P), which managed to put on weight while it was out joining 20 cows. The bull weighed 1005kg  without supplementary feeding for the past six months. 

A better look at Glenpoll K1 Wrangler F12 B29 (P), which principal Ferruccio Tonini said was probably one of the best bulls they'd bred. He is excited to see the calves that result from this three year-old bull being used over spring calving cows.

BLACK AQUA: David and Julie Paterson, Laceby, with Georgia Nankervis, Black Aqua Angus stud, with some 16 month-old bulls. Ms Nankervis said she and Josh Trimble were pleased to have sold a couple of bulls when they animals were a bit younger as well as one today.

CHATEAU: Bev McIntyre with the family's Chateau Limousin bulls. Her huband John said they were going towards having more Poll and French Pure bloodlines by using breeding technologies including AI and ET. He said he was pleased that at current prices, producers and others along the beef supply chain could make money, and that boded well for their upcoming third annual bull sale and in the Limousin National in Wodonga.

These Chateau Limousin heifers will soon start being prepared for the Limousin National at Wodonga.

At Jarobee Angus, Greg White and co-principal Jan Roberton with the stud's entries for the RASV Heifer Challenge.

At Rosstulla Poll Hereford stud were: (from left) Michael Russell, Glen Forbes NSW; Gary Anthony, Meeniyan; principal Rex Forrest; Bill Lack, Willack stud, Heyfield; Narelle Forrest; David Meikle, Tarwin Poll Hereford stud, Meeniyan; and Stand Walker, Charellen Poll Hereford stud at Sale.

They were standing in front of this rising four year-old bull, Wrathenbullie Jolly (AI) who had been used over heifers.

Jim Young (left) runs Leven Vale, Glenhope, and was checking out Landfall Angus's display. The Tasmanian stud (represented by co-principal Frank Archer) decided to bring bulls, cows and young stock to take part in Beef Week for the first time, to show their offering to potential mainland clients.

At Landfall Angus's display, senior advisor and travelling ambassador Gerald Archer with Ros and John Adams, Mansfield. Mr Adams is a member of the Beef Week committee.

Prime Angus: Peter and Annick Butterfield, Prime Angus were very impressed with their open day, after missing last years event. They are seen here with there Prime Juggernaut J15 calves, the J15 and Prime Katapault K1 sons.

Ravenswood British Whites- Debbie Holmes, Ravenswood British Whites with her rising 2 year old heifers in all of their colour forms except for straight 

Tarcombe Herefords: Tim Hayes, Tarcombe Herefords, Ruffy was extremely pleased with the amount of clients that attended his open day. Tarcombe with be selling 35 bulls in their upcoming bull sale including a line of bulls at the Wodonga National. 

Limstow Limousins: Scott and Tessa Stow of Limstow Limousins didn’t participate in last years field days but we pleased with the outcome from the day. Scott is pictured with his 10mth old polled bulls. 

Connamara Angus- Michael Hill of Connamara Angus, Ruffy pictured here with his pen of RASV Heifer Challenge. Connamara are targeting higher muscling cattle, that is why they are using Rennylea F857 which would be the equal highest IMF scoring bull in Australia.  

Bellspur Angus: Brenton Sessions, Bellspur Angus, Balmattum opened their gates for their first open day. Mr Sessions said he said it was a great opportunity to showcase their program to more people. 

Castle Brangus- Michael Bush is photographed in front of his 18mth old heifers that are in the Heifer Challenge. Michael said that they are excited to be apart of the Challenge, as they want to show of their females, as they are the foundation of any herd. 

Interested buyers Trevour and Teresa Hall have travelled from Scotsburn Tas and have enjoyed visiting a number of studs at during beef week, with well known stud advisor Willie Milne at Rangan Charolais.
