THE Gibson family’s Bulloo River property Gunnadorah has sold. The 50,668 hectare (125,200 acre) property located 60km north of Quilpie was bought by brothers Scott and Cameron Tweed from Deneliquin. It is understood the sale price was about $26/acre.
Gunnadorah is estimated to carry 1500 cows and followers; or 2800 mixed cattle, or the equivalent in sheep. Gunnadorah comprises of six 6 GHPL leases. The original lease was settled by the Gibsons in 1919.
The property is described as being about 30 per cent flooded river country, 50pc lightly shaded and open deep soft red loam dissected by Corona Creek and Associated creeks with swamp and lagoons, and 20pc red Corona Creek watershed country with reserves of low edible mulga, buffel, Mitchell, neverfail and herbages.
Water is supplied by 11 large dams, permanent holes in the Bulloo River, Corona Creek, plus semi-permanent creeks, lagoons and swamps.
Gunnadorah has eight main paddocks and four holding paddocks. About 80pc of the fencing is new in recent years. Other improvements include a four bedroom home, machinery shed/workshop; two old shearing sheds, quarters, and three sets of steel cattle yards.
