FRANCS ANGUS: Faye Clark and Nick Franc, Francs Angus, Beaufort, with cows aged rising three years-old to rising seven years-old that are due to calve down in autumn. The family sold 11 of 14 bulls they had on offer by 11am of their Beef Week open day, and Nick Franc said with strong cattle prices and a much improved season, there was optimism in the beef industry and people were willing to buy the right bulls.

WEATHERLY: Charlie Weatherly, with David's Harvey Allbanger H42, who has a docility score of 17. Mr Weatherly said the stud had two bulls in the Angus Sire Benchmarking Program cohort six and both of their birth figures had improved by being part of the program.

WEATHERLY: John, Ken and Laura, 10, Fahey, all of Terang, with Kelvin Scott, Charlie Weatherly and Michael Spencer, all of Weatherly Angus.

ENNERDALE: The Elsom family of David, Emily, 11, Michelle and Grace, 14, all of Macarthur, flank James ‘Buster’ Luckock, of Ennerdale Hereford and Poll Hereford stud.

ENNERDALE: Kate Luckock, Ennerdale Herefords and Poll Herefords, said the sale bulls would be 16 to about 23 months-old at their on-property sale in early March. She said the first sons of Ennerdale Ambassador and Ennerdale Archer would be on offer.

BOWMONT: Bowmont stud had its Herefords on display, and this herd will be dispersed at their annual bull sale in February, so they can concentrate on breeding Angus cattle. Diane and Paul Marshall, Orbost, are travelling throughout the state and across borders to check out studs during Stock & Land Beef Week. They plan to skip a day or two!

BOWMONT: Ben Lewis, Haven Herefords, UK, and Sam King, Bowmont Hereford and Angus stud. Mr Lewis is visiting a handful of studs while in Australia to hopeful find some genetics to take back to the UK. Mr King said many years ago, his family had used a Haven bull.

YARRAM PARK: Yarram Park's cattle manager Mick Petersen and general manager Jeremy Upton are excited to be hosting the stud's first on-property sale in February. While the stud was founded in 1948, Mr Upton said in the past two or three years, there'd been a big push from clients to have an auction.

MOUNT WILLIAM: John Kennedy, Yerong Creek, NSW, with Mount William Charolais principal Rob Abbott and stud adviser Bryce Galvin, who now lives at Yerong Creek too, with some of the sale bulls. Mr Abbott said progeny of renowned Scottish sire Blelack Digger and Palgrove Hannibal would be offered for sale, and he was excited to see the first drop of calves by $14,000 Rangan Roundup K36E in March – which he hopes will have more softness, while maintaining capacity.

PELICAN RISE: At Pelican Rise Limosuin stud, Chris and Marilyn Meade with their cows.

MUREDUKE: With Murdeduke Angus cattle are Murray Stoney, Ellingerrin, and owner Bruce Wilson.

TANYBRYN PARK: At Tanbryn Park Limosuins are principal Helen Masters, Michelle Beggs and dog Leo.

RED ROCKET: At Red Rocket, Gail and Jennifer Hand. 

OTWAY FELIX: At Otway Felix Limousin stud, Brian and Roslyn Galligan are with the RASV Heifer Challenge entries.

BANQUET: Three Canadians were snapped at Banquet, Alex Tingley, Alberta, Megan Bergsveinson, Saskatchewan and Taylor Iwasiuk, Alberta with Banquet’s Hamish Branson. With them are 3 young ET calves to be offered at their upcoming Bull Sale.

ALTO ANGUS: Joy Howley, Alto Angus, Caramut was happy to show people around their Native Angus. Joy is pictured here with two of her H cows. Mrs Howley says she is looking forward to calving down 16 Native cows this year. 

BARWIDGEE: Wendy Kelly of Barwidgee Angus had her 59 sale bulls on display including a pen of heifers. Wendy said they had a great day with many clients from West South Australia through to Gippsland. 

NAMPARA: Stuart Hann, Nampara Angus, Kingston, SA with his Lot 3 sale bull, sired by Atahua Freedom 609-10. Nampara will offer 10 Freedom sons in their upcoming sale. Mr Hann said Freedom is bringing something different to the program and are attracting attentions. 

PJ CATTLE CO: Phil, Jo, Tiffany and Lochie McLachlan, PJ Cattle Co, Glenormiston, with Jonna Vainikainen, Finland and clients Gerard and Peter Ryan, Ryan Pastoral with their agent Glenn Judd, SKB Warrnambool. Ryan Pastoral purchased 3 bulls on the day, including PJ Loch L21 (pictured).

WOONALLEE: Tom Baker, Woonallee Simmentals, Furner (near Millicent) SA, made the journey across to the Mortlake Saleyards again this year with 9 bulls to put on display. Mr Baker said it was another great day to see repeat and potential clients. 

LANGI KAL KAL: State agriculture manager Matthew Menhennet, Landmark's Andrew Sloan and Annette Cocking, Ampitheatre.

Some of the Langi Kal Kal team, state agriculture manager Matthew Menhennet and manager Colin Kendall, said they'd done a lot more AI to improve the herd and strive towards their early maturing phenotype and well structured calves. Langi Kal Kal's sale will be conducted by open cry auction this year for the first time.

JACLINTON: Clinton, centre, and Tom Baulch, of Jaclinton Poll Herefords of Illowa near Warrnambool show the 21-month-old 901 kilogram Jaclinton Leveraction bull to Bob Hyland of Illowa. Leveraction will be one of the seven bulls Jaclinton will take to the national Poll Hereford and Hereford show at Wodonga in May. 

ROSSANDER: Andrew, centre, and Alison Anderson of Warrnambool's Rossander Angus stud show the 18-month-old heifers they have entered in the Heifer Challenge to Peter Glesson of Warrnambool.

CLAREMONT: Liz and Graeme Glasgow, Claremont Blacks, Woolsthorpe, at their open day for Stock & Land Beef Week.

TEE JAY: Jocelyn, centre, and Tony Williams and children Terri, Clancy, and Jessie, of Tee Jay Poll Hereford at Woolsthorpe with some of the stud cows they had for sale at the 2017 Beef Week field days.
