BEEF studs throughout central and northern Victoria opened their gates today to show off what they had on offer.

ANDTRAVERN: Stud principals Erin and Tom Waters, and Jeff Smith. Mr Smith said they have been incredibly critical of their cattle, only keeping the best in order to breed the best.

ANDTRAVERN: The calf of the record selling $44,000 bull sold by the family at Wodonga last year. Stud co-principal Jeff Smith said the sale was a "highlight of a lifetime".

GLENDAN PARK: Alicia Trovatello, Glendan Park, with client Kevin Stark, Lake Mundi, who bought bulls from the stud for the first time last year. Ms Trovatello said BreedPlan figures are important, but structure always comes first.

RIVER RECEDE: Stud principals Miri Maher and Ryan Spykers in front of some of their cows and calves. The couple said they are passionate about the breed as Herefords are well-rounded cattle that do well in all climates. This is their first year taking part in Stock & Land Beef Week.

GLEN GOULBURN: Stud principal Lynn Vearing, with family friend Mitch Brislin, MJ Herefords, Leongatha. Mr Vearing said he runs both polled and horned Herefords, as he likes them both.

GLENGYRON: Hannah Macartney, Jasper Tippett, 7, Macklin Tippett, 6, and Brock Tippett.  As well as the 60-head cattle operation, Ms Macartney said the property had enjoyed a great season for cropping and potatoes. 

HIGH SPA ANGUS: Stud principal Kevin Mobbs said the stud received a great reception on Sunday afternoon, with plenty of potential buyers coming through the gate. 

MARSCHAY: Scott McKay with visitors Jesse Brown and Russell Brown. The stud, which deals with 90 per cent Shorthorn cattle, utilise their own genetics across four properties. 

HEATHERINGTON PARK: Stud principal Philip Gay with visitors Julie and Max Hobson. A great season driven by a wet winter on the land has led to Mr Gay to wean his heaviest calves in his 14-year tenure at the stud.

HEATHERINGTON PARK: Some of Philip Gay's Poll Hereford bulls which attracted interest at his open day. He said he had turned his focus to private sales rather than shows in 2016. 

WATERFORD: Ryan Bajada, Trafalgar, Scott Brunton, Lake Boga, and Sarah Sutton, Manangatang, with Waterford principals Sapphire and Deborah Halliday.

HANGING ROCK: Mark and Fiona Hermon, Hamilton, checking out Hanging Rock Speckle Park Harpoon.

ADAMELUCA: Michael and Anthony O'Sullivan, Baynton, joined a large crowd of visitors inspecting this year's sale bulls at  Adameluca Angus, with principals Sam and Lucas Trovatello.

WESTERN GOLD: The Hohnberg and Tyrrell cousins - Harvey, Zoe, Sasha, Jack, and Rhiannon, warmly welcomed visitors to Western Gold Limousins, who were participating in Stock & Land Beef Week for the first time.

CASKIEBEN: The Williamson brothers with Bruce Ross, Natte Yallock.

GAIRNSHIEL: Mark and Geoff Ipset, Timor West, Paul Jarick, Jindera, Brenda Proctor, Kooreh, and stud principal Leigh Williamson.

ELITE: Castella Blonde d'Aquitaine stud co-principal Drew Phillips said greater interest was being shown in his younger stud bulls, He displayed three stud bulls, as well as commercial animals and heifers.

GLENVIEW DELL: Glenview Dell has been supplying pure-bred Simmental bulls for nearly 40 years. Principal Gina Ryan had several two year old bulls, as well as heifers, on display at her Glenburn property.

GLENVIEW DEL: Glenview Dell's Gina Ryan said she was breeding Simmental bulls and heifers with fertility, early maturity, growth, yield and temperament. ride of place, this year, were several of her two year old animals.

PARINGA: Paringa, Murrindindi, supples Angus, Charolais, Red Angus and Stabiliser bulls, Heifers and bulls were on display, as part of Beef Week.

PARINGA: Stud principal Tom Lawson welcomed a steady stream of potential clients to his Murrindindi property, including John Williamson, who travelled down from near Wangaratta, to see the animals being displayed for Stock & Land Beef Week.

ANVIL: Anvil Angus, Acheron, displayed a selection of bulls, which would be part of this year's autumn sales in Victoria and New South Wales. Principal Steve Handbury said Beef Week also allowed him to show heifers, from his herd.

ANVIL: Frank Sorraghan, Wisconsin, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, studied the sale catalogue line-up with Anvil Angus, Acheron, stud principal Steven Handbury and the property's Ian Bates.

SHRUBLANDS ESTATE: Principal Caitlin Williams with manager Andrew Gibson, said the property's Angus and British White bulls were available for sale, on the day. She showed off a pen of 14-16 month old Angus bulls, which were attracting interest from buyers.

BARRAGUNDA: Keeping his young bulls cool, as the day warmed up at Barragunda Angus, Mansfield, principal Adrian Oliver said he was pleased with the number of visitors, who had come to the property, earlier in the day.

BARRAGUNDA: The Mansfield Angus stud has Te Mania, Rennylea, Lawsons and Anvil bloodlines in the bulls it is offering this year. 

RIGA: Gippsland visitor Justin Foat, Woodside, travelled up to Mansfield to see the bulls at Riga Angus. Here he discussed some of the animals which will be sold, with co-principal, Tim Finger.

RIGA: Among the cattle on display at Riga Angus, Mansfield, were the 10 month old bull calves, which are expected to hit the target of more than 500kg,, by the April sale day.

Heifer challenge judge Alex McDonald said heifers are so far looking very good, after day three of Stock & Land Beef Week.
