STRATHALBYN
Yarding: 1100 weaners
Steers to $1400
Heifers to $1290
STEERS sold to $1400 at Strathalbyn on Friday, in a very strong sale.
Elders Strathalbyn branch manager Danny Reynolds said the full yarding met “animated bidding, particularly from restockers looking for breeders”.
“There was good quality from a weight point of view on the back of a brilliant feed season,” he said.
Mr Reynolds said steers were generally $30 dearer, or up about 10 cents a kilogram.
“Heifers, while being lighter in weight, were the big improvers – up to 30c/kg dearer,” he said.
The top price pen was offered by AL Eichner, KI, who sold five Boonarkm-blood Angus steers, weighing 420kg, at $1400 or $3.33/kg to Princess Royal, while a further 14 steers, 340kg, made $1270 or $3.73/kg, and their 12 sisters, 304kg, made $1110 or $3.65/kg.
