AGFARM is extending the closing dates of their Advantage indexed selling programs in response to the nation’s late harvest.
Growers have until January 18 to transfer all grades of wheat, barley and canola to the Advantage 2, 5 and 10 programs.
Agfarm Advantage program manager Chris Coore said they were extending the delivery window to ensure everyone had the opportunity to participate.
“The weather impact on crops this season has been significant,” he said.
“On one hand it has contributed to Australia’s record sized winter crop. On the other hand, the continuous wet throughout spring and into summer has pushed harvest back up to four weeks in some areas, resulting in logistic issues and delaying marketing decisions.
“With many still harvesting, being agile and keeping the programs open longer than usual we believe will provide the support and access Advantage program users need this season.”
As well as providing growers with a structured managed selling program, the Advantage programs are designed to assist with cashflow, offering advance payments within three business days.
“We have been very pleased with the flow of grain into the Advantage programs this season,” Mr Coore said.
“Deliveries into the advance payment option continue to be popular especially in the past few weeks.
“Looking forward, we are starting to see signs of price volatility and production risk in the world market, which will suit an average price selling program like Advantage.”
Agfarm’s Advantage programs are designed to capture rallies outside the harvest period.
Advantage 2 sells a 50 per cent portion of grain in the months of January and February. Advantage 5 sells a 20pc portion each month from January until May, and Advantage 10 sells a 10pc portion each month from January until October.
