Yarding: 3248 plus 160 calves
Grown steers to $1640
Autumn-drop weaner steers to $1415
Heifers to $1340
Cows and calves to $2580
EXCELLENT lines of forward conditioned steers were a feature of the Wodonga cattle sale held last Thursday.
A total of 3248 grown cattle were penned along with 160 calves.
Although black cattle dominated the yarding, there was a very good offering of other breeds, including the annual draft of 400 dehorned Hereford and Poll Hereford steers from the Coughlan family, Tarabah Pastoral Company, Holbrook, NSW.
Competition was strong for the attractive selection of steers with weight and growth ready to go into feedlots, and commission buyers were in force bidding against local restockers for the many suitable lines.
Landmark Wodonga auctioneer Pat Kindellan noted the cattle on offer where in great condition following the tremendous spring and prices continue to hold on established levels, and perhaps were “dearer than the previous market”.
“It was a terrific sale,” Mr Kindellan said.
“We saw the first of the autumn drop calves, and they sold extremely well, with some vendors getting up to $200 more than last year.”
