In spite of recent cheaper trends, heavy steer valves were held firm while heifers met exceptional grazier demand at the Ballarat monthly store cattle sale on Friday.
Bullock finishers from the East of Melbourne areas were at the heart of the strong inquiry for steers, and frequently outrun the support of lot feeders who had limited success on the day.
Steers were mostly sold in the $1300- $1700 a head price bracket while heifers which received broader state-wide restocker coverage were sold mostly from $1000-$1250 a head.
The Ballarat November sale offered 3080 head overall with the market returning an outstanding $1335 per head price average
