Following the recent storm in southwestern NSW, landholders and community members in the Western Region are being to assess and report storm damage to their property.
As teams from Local Land Services Western Region and NSW Department of Industry continue to survey the damage from Friday’s severe hail storm that lashed much of the Western Region, landholders and residents have been encouraged to continue to contact them to report the damage they’ve sustained.
A number of storm cells, which featured winds of up to 100 km per hour and golf ball-sized hail, caused widespread damage across the Western Region to crops, infrastructure and vehicles.
While the Manager of Biosecurity and Emergency Services with the Local Land Services Western Region, David Creeper is confident the teams on the ground have a good handle on the damage that has been caused, he has encouraged everyone impacted to reach out to ensure no areas are missed.
“There were several storm cells in the Western Region that caused widespread damage to horticulture, broadacre and rangeland country,” Mr Creeper said.
“Since the storm we (Local Land Services Western Region) and the NSW Department of Industry have been out and about surveying the damage and getting a report together.
“In organising the local declaration to get assistance for those affected by the storm, it is important we clearly identify all the areas where damage occurred.
“To ensure we don’t miss any areas, I strongly encourage everyone to get in contact with their Local Land Services office and report the damage they've sustained.”
