Vendor was Bruce and Maureen Hawkins, who run a solid breeding herd at Seaspray.
Breeders and buyers, while a little anxious about the closing margins, appear comfortable with the way prices have settled in the store job these days.
At Sale’s store cattle sale, restockers from across Gippsland were looking for cattle and pushed feedlot buyers to compete. There were three herd dispersals among the draft. Brian Frawley, The Heart, sold 18mo Angus steers, 483kg, $1710.

Shorthorn-Angus steers, 14mo, 418kg, sold at $1640; their brothers, 14mo Shorhorns, 382kg, sold at $1400; vendor Hopfields, Dutson.

Heifers also sold well on the day. Pinora Farms, Heyfield, sold 16mo Angus heifers to $1480. Buxton Ag, Stratford, sold Red Polled-Devon cross heifers, $1280.
