Swan Hill Merino ewes made to a sale high of $194 a head on Friday when 16,000 local breeders’ sheep met widespread keen competition.
The sale’s market toppers were a line of 14-drop classed breeders offered in a dispersal of Ian and Lois Lockhart “Old Goodnight” Ridgeway Advance and Wallaloo Park blood flock from Goodnight, NSW.
The line of 177 was snapped up by FP Nevins, Inglewood and Arnold Dalrymple of Charlton while the Old Goodnight year-younger line of 1.5 year-olds, made $191 a head.
A pen of 253 August shorn Terrick West-blood young ewes bred by MG & M Filmer “Karinya” Wakool, NSW were the best priced, at $192 a head of 15-drop lines in what again proved to be another very consistent inquiry.
Sales of older four and five year-old ewes were also well supported with a number of sales recorded from $142 to a best of $151 a head.
Wether lambs were also again hot property as most shorn and unshorn lines made $90 to $110, topping at $115 for the Ettershank Pastoral Tamaleuca-blood line bred and consigned from “Murrayview” at Murrabit, NSW.
