Coopworth National
37 of 60 rams offered sold to $2000, to av $1032
THE Coopworth breed’s annual national ram sale drew some strong local support.
Monday’s sale at Hamilton was solely conducted on AuctionsPlus, with a total of 37 rams sold.
This marked a lower clearance rate than last year, which group president Tim Johnston said could be because clients had already filled their ram orders at outstanding on-property sales.
The top price of $2000 for Lot 4 was paid by JM&DM Connell for a son of Cashmore Oaklea 141743 offered by Cashmore Park.
Cashmore Park 152686 had a good maternal carcase + index of 143, while being in the 1 per cent for maternal index. He had plenty of muscle, large scrotal circumference with a good moderate birth weight.
Stoney Point Partnership, Darlington, purchased 10 of the Cashmore Park rams, average $758. Cashmore Park sold all their 12 rams to average $898.
While vendors Don and Ann Pegler, Oaklea, Mt Gambier SA, sold four rams to $1600 to av $1150; Tim Johnston, Waradgery, Brit Brit, sold nine rams to $1400 to av $966; Tim Lubke, Strathview, Henty NSW sold all his six rams to $1600 to av $1250; Matt and Tanya Tonissen, Chrome, Hamilton, sold four rams to $1500 to av $1075, and Steve and Lisa Parker, South West Genetics, Mortlake, sold two rams at $800..
“This is a great window sale for all studs, but our doors are always open for people to contact the studs for further rams or information,” Mr Johnston said.
