IT was a sizable yarding of 20,000 with mainly young ewes that attracted buyer attention at Yelta, Vic.
Elders Mildura, Vic, livestock manager Kelvin Fitzgerald said the sale was “very strong”.
“Good ewes sold well and even the tail end managed to make good money,” he said.
Mr Fitzgerald said he considered the sale to have gotten dearer as it went along.
Buying support came from the local area, western Vic, the upper South East and even Yorke Peninsula.
The top price was paid for a pen of 445 May/June 2015-drop ewes from Mutooroo Pastoral Company, from Mutooroo Station, via Cockburn, Mutooroo blood, which sold at $220.
Dalwoodman Pastoral, Woodlands, via Wentworth, NSW, sold 432 October/November 2014-drop, Anama-bld, at $205.
Jascalim, Tara Downs, Wentworth, NSW, sold 320, 1.5-year-olds, Tara Downs-bld, at $200.
RJ&BA Edwards, Devon, Broken Hill, NSW, sold 501, 1.5yo, Limevale-bld, at $198.
Curnamona Pastoral Company, Yunta, sold 764, 1.5yo, Mulloorie-bld, at $194.
Mutooroo had a complete drop of 456, 1.5yo, Gunbar-bld, at $193.
Springwood, Wentworth, NSW, had 255 June/June 2015-drop, Anama and East Bungaree-bld, at $190.
Mooleulooloo, Yunta, sold 136 May/June 2013 and 2014-drop, North Ashrose-bld, at $147, while a run of 543 2012-drop sold at $144, and the 2011-drop at $136.
Woodlands sold 85 October/November 2014-drop, Anama-bld, at $146.
There was a small run of wethers, with 796 May/June 2016-drop, from Mooleulooloo, North Ashrose-bld, sold at $94, while a run of 207 May/June 2016-drop from Mutooroo, unshorn, Mutooroo-bld, sold at $91.
