More than 600 dairy farmers have applied for grants following the launch of Coles’ new milk brand.
Farmers’ Fund grants of up to $20,000 attracted strong interest from across eastern Australia as farmers applied to improve business through infrastructure, education and advice.
Coles kick-started the fund through a $1 million contribution, with 40 cents from every two-litres of Farmers’ Fund milk sold to follow.
The Victorian Farmers Federation received applications right up to the deadline at the end of September, which president David Jochinke said showed support for the initiative.
He said assessments would be conducted with the National Farmers Federation and the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria and distributed before November.
