Last weekend, the Victorian Farmers Federation launched the state government’s $6 million Quad Bike Safety Rebate Scheme.
Farmers can apply for up to $1200 to help cover the cost of buying operator protection devices for their quad bikes, or to purchase safer alternative vehicles.
In the past few days, interest in the program has exploded.
More than 60 applications have already been submitted to us. We’ve had another 20 inquiries about the rebate.
It’s clear the Quad Bike Safety Rebate Scheme is on a roll.
It’s very encouraging to see such a high uptake of the rebate offer so far, especially when it was launched on grand final day, a time when you’d expect a lot of Victorians would have their minds more on the football than business. It goes to show that even in the middle of football fever, farmers are still conscious of their safety.
It’s vital that farmers protect themselves, their families and their employees from the risks of using quad bikes.
The Victorian Farmers Federation has established a dedicated phone line to process applications for farmers purchasing operator protection devices for their quad bikes, or buying a safer alternative vehicle.
The phone has been running off the hook with people interested in taking up the rebate.
We’d love to see that momentum keep building. We hope to continue rolling out the scheme until as many farmers as possible have taken the offer.
The program is scheduled to run over the next two years.
Our goal is to distribute quad safety rebates to more than 5000 farmers during that time.
You can help us reach that target by taking advantage of the offer and making an early application.
This is important, because the available rebates are being allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Any farmer who has purchased an approved operator protection device or alternative vehicle from September 1 is eligible for the rebate.
