BATTEN down the hatches, another vigorous storm will hit SA on Wednesday with 100 millimetres of rain expected in various areas.
The Bureau of Meterology has released a warning for a forceful front and intense low pressure system that will bring a band of rain, possible thunderstorms, gale force winds and a flood threat to central districts from midday Wednesday.
The deepening low from the west will focus increasing rain and wind across the region over Wednesday and Thursday, with rainfalls of 50 to 100mm of rain expected across Mid North and Mount Lofty Ranges, and 20 to 60mm for Adelaide metropolitan and agricultural districts.
BoM also issued a warning for graziers to remain vigilant on Wednesday and Thursday.
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and strong west to southwesterly winds are expected to develop over the warning area during Wednesday and continue into Thursday. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
Gale force winds will develop Wednesday afternoon along the central and west coastal areas, extending to remaining coasts on Thursday.
Bureau of Meteorology state director John Nairn said winds would strengthen Wednesday evening.
“Winds will create possible storm force winds over central and Spencer Gulf waters and overnight into Thursday, as the low pressure system moves east, with the potential for gale force winds in exposed coastal areas and the higher ground of the Mount Lofty and Flinders Ranges,” he said.
“The winds will generate rough seas and large waves which could impact coastal areas.”
A flood watch has also been issued for the Mid North, Mount Lofty Ranges and Metropolitan area districts.
