The Bend South Devon Stud, Mirboo North, has taken out supreme South Devon exhibit in their final year at the Royal Melbourne Show.
Judge Hayden Green, Summit Livestock, Uranquinty, NSW, commended the bull, which took out junior champion bull, for its lengthy body.
“It’s got lots of extension, and a great length of body,” Mr Green said.
“Its testical make up was also quite good.”
Chris Daley, The Bend South Devon Stud, said the bull was a stand out due to its sheer power.
“He’s great for his age, he’s still quite young, but his power and length of body is great,” Mr Daley said.
Mr Daley, and wife Leonie, are hanging up their boots after 18 years competing at the Royal Melbourne Show.
The stud was the only stud representing the breed this year.
“We’re selling the farm and moving on, so this will be our final year,” Mr Daley said.
The Bend South Devon Stud also took out champion cow, with their 14 to 20 month-old heifer, as well as most successful exhibit.
Mr Green said the champion cow was another very good exhibit.
“She’s a young female, with a stretched out front end, and a lot of femininity about her,” he said.
