The annual Kanimbla Poll Hereford bull and female sale last week reached highs of $12,000 while 31 bulls of the 40 offered averaged $5919 and 11 heifers of the 12 offered averaged $3568 and topped at $5500.
Repeat client Coonong Pty LTD, Coonong Station, Urana, NSW, paid the top money of $12,000 for Kamimbla Safe Play K135, a 22-month-old son of New Zealand AI sire Koanui Safety and out of one of the best known Kanimbla females of late, Kanimbla Centrefold G58.
Coonong added a second bull to their order, Kanimbla Joker K95, a 23-month-old son of US AI sire TH 122 71L Victor 719T for $9000.
Kanimbla Exporter L16 brought the second top money at $11,000. The 16-month-old son of Merawah Export F21 was purchased by R.R. and J.A. Trease, Mirboo North.
Seedstock producer, Barry Newcomen, Newcomen Herefords, Ensay, purchased Kanimbla Hot Stepper K199 for $9000. Among the volume buyers were I.J. and M.J. Lyon, Portland, Vic, who secured two to average $6500.
The female offering created interest reaching a top of $5500 twice for bred heifers. Riccarton, Warrion, secured Kanimbla Maritana L18, an Allendale Robin Hood D194 daughter for $5500 as well as an un-joined heifer for $3500.
Kanimbla manager and co-owner James McWilliam said they were pleased with result, with strong support from repeat clientele.
