SOME of SA’s most loved foods will be featured at a popular Malaysian food market for the next two weeks.
San Remo, Monjava Coffee, Balfours, Spring Gully and Cleanseas are just some of the companies to have their products featured as part of the Tasty Australia promotion.
Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister Leon Bignell today launched the promotion during the South East Asia trade mission he is leading through Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
The promotion – in Kuala Lumpur’s high-end Isetan food market chain – will also include cooking demonstrations and tastings.
The Food SA members also participating are Tucker's Natural, Pangkarra, Quality Wise, James Road, Emmaline's Country Kitchen, Thistle Be Good, Pendleton, Yummy Snack Co, Leabrook Farm, Baylies, Oleapak, Cucina Cibo, Outback Pride and Laucke Flour Mills.
Up to 50 business representatives are in SE Asia as part of a mission to create business and investment opportunities and further promote SA.
Mr Bignell said to have such a wide variety of products available – from flour, pasta and crackers to jams, confectionery and cakes – demonstrated the diversity of the state’s food industry.
“Many of these businesses are first time exporters, so they are learning about export requirements, logistics, packaging and pricing, retail capability and the potential of future business in Malaysia and SE Asia as a whole,” he said.
“While other businesses are hoping to grow and expand their export markets.”
