Elmo, Tintern Schools September, 2013 drop Romney ram, has remained streets ahead of the competition, by again taking out the Supreme exhibit, at this year’s Bendigo Australian Sheep & Wool Show.
Farm manager Gavin Wall said Elmo’s progeny were on the ground in several states and his year’s judge Hugh Taylor, had used the ram in his own flock, in New Zealand.
“We are really pleased with the way he has performed, in the show ring, and in the paddock,” Mr Wall said.
“He had some progeny here that did really well, in the show ring, so I am delighted.
“The results he is coming up with are really impressive, both on performance and wool production.”
Mr Wall said Elmo’s reach could spread even further, with international and Australian visitors at the show expressing an interest.
“Romneys are renowned for being able to withstand the wet conditions, so the seasons we are having now may well spark some more interest in the breed.”
