Scholarships up to $10 thousand will help young farmers in Victoria.
The state government incentive aims to boost the skills and resilience of farmers under the age of 35 to help develop careers in the agriculture industry.
The funding will be halved between study and on-farm or professional development activities.
Eligible courses include a Diploma in Agriculture, Human Resources training, Business Management, Diploma of Agribusiness Management and a range of on-farm technical training.
Young Agribusiness Professionals (YAP) encouraged its members and other farm workers to apply for the Young Farmer Scholarship Program.
YAP spokesperson Gregor Knight said the initiative was great and fully supported by the VFF, giving young farmers opportunities that could help in their futures.
“We need to invest in the next generation because they are the future of agriculture,” He said.
“We need to make a career on the land an attractive option again.”
Applications for the Young Farmers Scholarship Program close Tuesday, August 26.
