As the trend has been throughout the year, another smaller yarding of 1400 were penned at Emerald on Thursday. All categories have had dramatic gains from the last sale two weeks ago, some descriptions as much as 40c/kg in front of prices from a fortnight ago.
In the prime section, bullocks over 550kg sold to 318c/kg to average 315c, heavy steers 500-550kg made to 327c to average 311c, heavy heifers over 400kg reached 313c to average 288c, heavy cows over 520kg peaked at 265c to average 256c, cows 400-520kg topped at 259c to average 245c, while bulls over 600kg made to 260c, with lighter bulls 450-600kg peaking at 281c.
In the store section, heavy feeder steers 400-500kg reached 340c to average 309c, steers 320-400kg made as much as 355c to average 302c, steers 220-320kg sold to 368c to average 323c while light steers under 220kg made to 368c for the average of 345c. Feeder heifers 300-400kg topped at 326c to average 302c, 220-300kg heifers sold to 326c to average 294c, while light heifers under 220kg topped at 325c.
Charles and Carmel McKinlay, Stewart Park, Comet offered Charbray bullocks to make 318.2c for 680kg and $2165, while the Barlow family, Amaroo, Comet had their 580kg Brangus cows to 255c and $1481. The Gear family, Ok, Clermont had 600kg Santa cross heifers reach 265c and $1591, while Barry and Vicki Gifford, Girraween, Capella had their 625kg Angus cows to 257c and $1609.
Rhonda Ryan, Banuyla, Capella had her 512kg Braford cows to 258c and $1323, while the Comiskey family, Central Creek, Willows had 413kg Brahman heifers to 304c and $1257. The Zahl family, Crystal Plains, Springsure offered 339kg Droughtmaster heifers to 320c and $1086, while the Phillis Family, Capella had 406kg Brahman cross heifers to 280c and $1133.
Andrew Purvis and family, Picardy, Dysart had their Limo cross heifers reach 313c for 429kg and $1344, while the Sibson family, Cotherstone, Dysart had their 272kg Droughtmaster cross steers to 353c and $963.
