Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) senior forecaster Scott Williams says the autumn break has arrived.
The BoM was predicting good rainfall from early yesterday – with some areas expecting up to 25mm.
“Starting quite early on in the eastern border, but spreading right across the state, there will be a reasonable band of rain into today (Thursday),” Mr Williams said. “It’s fair to say we are having an autumn break, there was one lot of rain which was fairly significant, and there is more to come.”
Mr Williams said there would be further showers tomorrow (Friday), with another low pressure trough pushing across from the west. “That could see falls in the five to 10mm band, into the Wimmera and north. It’s not that atypical of an autumn break, quite often we get that east coast low,” he said. Mr Williams said as the El Nino system broke down, it was normal to expect similar weather patterns moving across Victoria, in late autumn or early winter.
