COWS with calves sold to a top of $2020 at the Wodonga store sale last Thursday.
Luke Deimel, Paull & Scollard, said the condition of the 3000-head yarding was good considering the season and the market held up pretty well. Michael Unthank, Brian Unthank, said it was above expectations.
“Buyers came from the local area, with the usual run of commission buyers from the south – Ballarat, Hamilton, Gippsland, Leongatha, (as well as) Wagga Wagga and Forbes,” Mr Unthank said.
Most steers sold from $600 to $1200. Mr Unthank said light weight steers mostly sold from 320-360c/kg; medium steers 310-330c/kg and heavy steers 300-315c/kg. Heifers sold from 270-300c/kg, and sold to a top of $1070 for Herefords.
