The regular Bega cattle sale reported 700 good quality store cattle yarded and they sold to very good local demand with buyers from Moruya and Orbost also competing on specialist lines.
Chester and Smith, Bega, director Stewart Smith said the prices were consistent with recent sales and reflected the optimism follwoing recent rain.
“Our season is enormous and it was a very good sale,” Mr Smith said.
Indicative prices for top steers ranged from $850 to $1000, with 15 month old steers selling to $1210, and 12 month old steers selling to $1010.
Younger steers ranged from $750 to $800.
Joined heifers sold to $1340, with 12 month old heifers selling to $930, with most sold in the range $650 to $850.
Younger heifers sold from $450 to $600, with cows and calves selling to $1780.
Individual sales of steers included Angus steers ten months old account W and S Brunton, Cobargo for $1000, while B and N Mergenhan, Bega sold nine month old Angus steers for $935.
R and B Collins, from Bega sold Red Angus steers, 12 to 14 months old for $1120.
W and S Brunton, from Cobargo sold ten month old Angus heifers for $930, while S and D Grant, from Whydam sold Illawarra cross heifers joined to calve in March for $1340.
K and J Northcott, from Bega sold Angus cows with calves for $1780.
The sale was conducted by Bega agents in conjunction Chester and Smith and Pell Rixon.
