Black Aqua Angus’ Georgia Nankervis and Josh Trimble, pictured with client Greg Maroney, Carraragarmungee, had a cracking inaugural Beef Week at the new Wangaratta saleyard due to a the constant flow of visitors. The stud was established in 2012 and on display were some of their integral stud sires, including Tamaroo Docklands, son of Tamaroo bennett E60, out of Carabar Docklands D62.

There was a cause for celebration at Witherswood Angus’ Beef Week open day near Glenrowan – their recently acquired bull, Millah Murrah Kingdom K35, who was purchased for the Australian record breaking price of $150,000, turned two. Also on display were 70 bulls catalogued for their on property bull sale on 22 March. The 100 or so visitors were also wowed by elite cows purchased from Dollar Angus, Casterton for their embryo transfer program. Co-principal John Woodruff is pictured with client Keith Martin, Taminick and ABS beef product manager Bill Cornell. 

Chateau Limousin principals Bev and John McIntyre inspecting some of the embryo transfer recipient cows with pure French polled Limousin calves at foot with Beef Week visitor Chloe Stewart. Ms Stewart was on work experience with Elders and visited the Chateau Limousin stud to view the spring drop calves by Canadian and American sires, including GHR Polled Afterschock.

Rostulla Poll Herefords principal Rex Forrest, Beechworth, was busy greeting visitors on day three of Beef Week, including Glendan Park stud principal Alvio Trovatello and principal of Adameluca Sam Trovatello. Rostulla’s new stud sire, Wrattenbullie Jolly, was on display for attendees as well as a calves by Warrensville the Don H51, Wiranya Gulburn, Rostulla Jetstream J16 and Otapawa Spark 3060.

There was plenty of interest for bulls at Mistletoe Limousin Beef Week open day, with stud principal waving goodbye to several on the day. Visitor Mark Woodstock, Goorambat, inspected the stock on display which included cows and calves as well as sons by  new polled sires Cyan Po, Donna Valley Polled Enterprise, SVL Polled Exclusive and Jim Dandie.

The buoyed beef market has benefitted Clarinda Charolais stud who sold out of bulls two year-old bulls prior to their Stock & Land Beef Week open day due to hot demand. What stud principal Ken Manton did have on display were the popular three herd sires - Clarinda Mr Easy, Rangan Park Doc Silver H32 and Rangan Park Rio Bravo, as well as beautiful PTIC heifers and bulls which will be on offer at the Southern Charolais Breeders Group Sale, Yea. 

Greg White’s new position as stud overseer was put to the test when droves of attendees came through the gates of Jarobee Angus, Beechworth, to inspect cattle prior to the stud’s on property auction on 18 March. Jarobee co-principal Jan Robinson, pictured Brooke Goldsworthy, said Mr White was assisting the stud in sire selection for their artificial insemination program, targeting genetics with sound structure, high growth and leading fertility traits. 

It was a day of busy business for Andrew McLean, Jade Park Angus, Hasonville, who was inundated with demand for his bulls during his Stock & Land Beef Week open day. A solid order from Omeo and local clients purchased 10 bulls before lunchtime. Contributing to the demand was Mark Wortmann, Lurg (left) - pictured with Mr McLean and Rodwells agent Dale Buittenhuis, Benalla – who purchased a 16month-old son of Braveheart of Stern, Jade Braveheart K8, for $6000. 

Glenpoll Poll Hereford principal Ferruccio Tonini and brother Renato Tonini welcomed visitors to the Glenrowan property during their Stock & Land Beef Week open day. Visitors were impressed by the length and structure of Glenpoll KI Wrangler, a 23 month-old bull weighing 905kilograms.
