Deloraine Rural Pty Ltd sent 126 Poll Hereford steers from Beveridge to Wodonga for the Independent agents All Breeds sale, last Thursday. Their first pen of 24 steers was awarded the best presented pen for the Rural Finance award, and this pen sold for $1230. Drafted into three pens their steers sold from $1000 to the top rice, to equal 343-368c/kg lwt.
European breeds and their crosses were highly sort after for grain feeding. DJ&JH Gray P/ship, Granite Hill, Jindera, sold 20 Charolais steers (371kg), which were awarded the best presented Charolais steers, for $1230.
“Bunurong”, Burrumbuttock, sold 26 Charolais steers, Rangan Charolais blood, from $1280-$1310. Glencoe Past Co, Holbrook, sold their annual draft of 80 Hick’s Composite steers from $995-$1170.
There was little bonus for EU accredited cattle, but Prichard Nominees, Tallangatta, sold 126 EU Angus-Hereford heifers, from $900-$1050, or 300-334c/kg lwt. Peter & Matt Calvin, Shannon Falls, Holbrook, sold 43 Limousin-Angus heifers from $955-$1100.
