EUROA based Mick Curtis and his new business “Newmarket Livestock” have hit the ground running.
Mick was manager of Elders Euroa for more than ten years before a restructure within the company provided him with an opportunity to develop his own business.
Mick will be supported in the business by Mansfield backgrounder Mark Holcombe who has previous corporate experience in the food industry as managing director of The King Island Company and The Meadow Lea Group.
The Newmarket Livestock partnership and its team - livestock specialist Scott Meehan and office manager Kerrie Tubb - officially opened the doors on October 1.
“Newmarket Livestock had received overwhelming and solid support from producers in the North East,” Mick said this week.
He said Newmarket Livestock is an independent business, focusing on marketing and selling livestock in the best interests of the producer. Newmarket would provide a transparent and specialised service in order to meet, individual producer needs.
“Our approach will be quite different,” Mick said, “and there are significant opportunities to improve the supply chain between producer and processor.
“We see this as an area where we can offer real value and hopefully build on the relationships we have with both processors and feedlots.”
Mick is highly regarded as an agent and has a wealth of experience in marketing and selling livestock throughout Southern NSW and Victoria.
He comes from a farming background and is a fourth generation stock and station agent. Mick originated from Coolamon, NSW, and began his career in the industry 20 years ago in Wagga Wagga.
Newmarket Livestock’s first store sale will be held at Euroa next Friday, October 24, with about 1200 head expected.
