THE Victorian Department of Primary Industries has opened negotiations to sell the Mallee Research centre at Walpeup in the latest restructuring shift of the state’s research body.
The 1041 hectare centre, which has been primarily operated as a grains research station since 1932, is open to expressions of interest with registrations sought for the acquisition of land and infrastructure,
David Butler, Project leader and Land management DPI, is believed to be liaising with prospective parties and has called upon submissions from individuals, business, government agencies, and education sector.
A successful deal, expected to be completed this year, is privy to an inquiry into potential land use.
The Walpeup based property is approximately 200 kiltometres north of Horsham and 130 kilometres south of Mildura.
