THEY may not date Megan Gale or have one of the highest rating radio shows in Australia, but Tatyoon’s Noel and Carol Phillips have won the bull.
After a four-week campaign to take out “the people’s bull”, Hamish and Andy failed in their attempt to win the Moyle Pathfinder bull valued at $6000, through Stock & Land’s bull giveaway.
Instead, the Phillips, who run 50 Angus breeders at their Myrtleigh property were announced winners out of 700 entries at the Pathfinder Angus, Gazette, stud bull sale.
Mrs Phillips was laughing with happiness when she spoke with Stock & Land when the prize was drawn on Wednesday morning.
She questioned “it is true, then is it?” and said that the comic duo had contacted them earlier to announce they had won the bull.
“They were typically hilarious,” Mrs Phillips said.
While they took the defeat well, Hamish and Andy had one request for the Phillips.
“We have to call it Sandra, after Sandra Bullock because she’s been on the Hamish and Andy show and their syndicate was going to call the bull Sandra.”
Although they had never had a female-named bull before, Mrs Phillips said they were happy to make an exception for their new sire.
