AN UPCOMING industry forum will showcase North Queensland's burgeoning agribusiness development opportunities.
The only event of its type in Queensland, the AgInvest 2011 forum aims to profile opportunities associated with agriculture and investment in the region.
Lead by the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI), the forum will run in Townsville over 3-4 November.
DEEDI Trade and Business Officer Vic O'Keefe said the event would offer investors and the region's major project proponents a chance to network and establish new business connections.
"AgInvest 2011 will give delegates an insight into the scope of existing agribusiness opportunities and how to make the most of them," he said.
"Minister for Agriculture, Food and Regional Economies Tim Mulherin will open the event and speakers will cover a range of topics, such as the region's diversity, and understanding the legal, environmental, market and logistics issues.
"Of particular interest to delegates will be an update on the status of current and proposed food, fibre and bio-fuel projects, and there'll be a panel discussion involving professionals from the financial, legal and investment services sectors.
"There will also be site visits and organised tours to Charters Towers, the Burdekin, Ingham and the Townsville port.
"AgInvest 2011 is North Queensland's premier agribusiness investment event of the year and I urge anyone interested to register."
