PEAK vegetable and potato grower body AUSVEG is encouraging McDonald's to turn Aussie vegetables into superstars in the same way it has turned our beef, and now lamb, into trademark burgers.
AUSVEG spokeswoman Courtney Burger says a burger made with 100 per cent Australian produce for the salad and veggie patty would be a win for the multinational fast food giant.
“By offering Australian consumers the option to have a nutritious burger made with all produce sourced locally, it would not only benefit the waistline of Australians but also support the domestic vegetable industry,” Miss Burger said.
“Teaming up an iconic food chain with education about vegetables to young children would be a positive move for this country, because early exposure to vegetables is crucial in forming healthy eating habits."
