MORETON Beef Classic Show and Sale yarded 645 head on October 18.
Boyd O'Brien Bartholomew reported the current dry conditions had had little impact of the market with the yarding averaging an impressive 200.2c.
The grand champion trade beast was an Angus-cross heifer exhibited by Tom and Joy Surwaski, Boonah. The steer was bought by Marcelford Meats Churchill for 241c/kg or $1157.
Sale sponsor Westpac Bank donated $500 to the buyer of the champion trade steer, which was immediately donated by Marcelford Meats to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The RFDS is a long-term beneficiary of the Moreton Beef Classic Show and Sale.
The grand champion export grain beast was exhibited by Alan, Val, Jamie and Nikki Crawford, Kingaroy. The Limousin-cross steer sold for 235c or $1703 to Jack Purcell Meats.
The grand champion pen of grainfed cattle was an outstanding pen of Limousin cross steers exhibited by Gerry Muckert, Karrabin.
The steers sold for 230c to return $1130 bought by the Kilcoy Pastoral Co.
Grand champion grass fed exhibit was a Simmental-cross bullock owned by Bernie Duncombe and Maree Glasby, Arakoon, Nanango.
The bullock which had been runing on oats made 204c to return $1336, bought by JBS Australia.
Another outstanding result was a consignment of 10 Charolais steers presented by Bob and Sheree MacGill, Nargoon Charolais, Kilkivan. The milk tooth steers all by Nargoon bulls sold to a top of 223c with a pen of six realising $1592. The consignment averaged 221.7c to return $1564/head.
