DUENCLIN White Suffolk and SAMM stud hosted its third South Australian on-property ram auction at Perponda last Thursday with a line-up offering plenty of value for potential buyers.
The rams were paddock-reared and ready to go, but bidding was subdued, with 11 of 60 selling at an average price of $772.
In the White Suffolks, MR&DJ Anderson, Karoonda, secured the top-price ram at $1200. This meaty sire rated -0.9 millimetres for post-weaning fat, -0.3mm post-weaning eye muscle depth, and 107.5 on the Lamb20-20 index.
Despite being unable to attend the sale because of shearing commitments, the Andersons also bought the second-highest-price ram through an agent at $1000.
LR&SR Mayr, Karoonda, bought four at $700, and T&K Gladigau, Mannum, three at $700. Ian and Nick Wood, Woodoona Props, Borrika, took two at $700.
