JOANNE and Jess Conlan from Elmore took out the champion title in both the lead and unled sections of the National Beef Bendigo on the hoof section of the carcase competition.
The unled section kicked off the competition where the Conlan's Belgian Blue, Hereford cross Friesian steer claimed champion.
The steer was from class three, the medium-heavy domestic section and it weighed 438 kilograms with a 7-12 millimetre P8 fat and a 6-10 mm rib fat.
Judge, Peter Kostos, Warragul, Stock and Land said the champion was an excellent beast who was very broad across the shoulders.
The reserve in this section was awarded to the Davis family, Sutton Grange for their Belgian Blue Murray Grey cross steer.
This steer was also from the class three, the medium-heavy domestic class and it weighed 454kg.

In the led section of the competition Mr Kostos said it was hard to judge as all the entries were a credit to the breeds.

This steer was from the medium-heavy domestic class and weighed 440kg with a 7-12 millimetre P8 fat and a 6-10 mm rib fat.
Mr Kostos said this particular animal has terrific muscle and meat ability.
