THE first weekend of March heralds the annual Warragul show.
For many years the Warragul show has been split over Friday night, which is carnival night, and all of the regular show activities are held during Saturday.
Despite all of the carnival rides that could be seen, the show is built around agricultural pursuits.
Wood chopping, chooks, rabbits and even ferrets were on show, but horses, dairy and beef cattle were the main items.
Over the years cattle on show have declined, blamed partly on time, but equally on cost.
This year had a few more on show, vying for the ribbons and prestige of being judged the best of the show.
Cattle are judged for best of breed, and interbreed, and the beef section of the show culminates in Supreme Champion Beef Animal, and this year judge Gary Turnham chose a Charolais cow above all other for this honour.
