THERE is no doubt the latest litter of renowned dog breeder Joe Spicer of Go Getta Kelpies, Glenthompson, includes some true working dog champions.
One expected to do particularly well is jet-black Go Getta True – a son of Australian yard champion and three-time winner of Victorian dog of the year, Go Getta Brew.
And it's this puppy that has been specially selected as the Fairfax Agricultural Media reader giveaway prize in the lead-up to the Australian Kelpie Muster at Casterton, Victoria.
The Kelpie, who was born earlier this month, is a repeat mate between True's mother Go Getta Token and Brew that has resulted in several litters that have produced bold, brave and responsive progeny, according to Mr Spicer.
"Being a repeat mating, we know they are capable of producing champions that will be top all-round sheep, dairy and beef working dogs," he said.
"The progeny of these parents are easy to get on with, very easy to command and compliant of their owner with their bold, friendly nature."

The purebred pup is a unique jet-black, known as a Barb Kelpie, which Mr Spicer said was possibly connected to one of the original Kelpie dogs, named after Melbourne Cup 1866 winner, The Barb.
"Males are confident, low maintenance and consistent performers," he said.
"There are times when the chips are down with handling stock because they can be obstinate – male are resilient in these difficult situations."
Fairfax Agricultural Media, together with the Muster organisers, will be giving away True as a prize for one lucky reader. The winner will also receive a free training book and training clinic with three-time Australian champion breeder Mr Spicer at the Go Getta stud.
Entry details in the print editions of Stock & Land, The Land, Queensland Country Life, Stock Journal and Farm Weekly from May 1-22.
The winner will be announced at the Australian Kelpie Muster at Casterton, which will be held on June 7 and 8.
