A STRONG result was achieved at the Gelantipy cattle sale earlier today, with prices $200 to $250 head better than last year.
Agents penned 1495 head, and the volume vendor was FA&DA Boulton, Gelantipy, who supplied about 50 per cent of the yarding.
They sold 650 Angus-Hereford and Angus steers from $750-$1160, with an estimated live weight price at 225-260 cents a kilogram.
Demand for these steers came from three main buyers including TFI, Hurstdale Farms, South Gippsland, and Chris Stanley Livestock.
The balance of the yarding were local district weaner steers which sold mostly from $700-$945, with a live weight price of 245-270c/kg for most steers.
The Boulton family also offloaded 81 Angus and Hereford heifers from $505-$730. Demand for these heifers came from a feedlot - Direct Rural, Mossvale, NSW.
The rest of the locally-bred weaner heifers realised $500-$655.
WA Henderson cleared 39 Hereford heifers, Karoonda-blood, from $575-$655.
