Reducing their on-farm stock numbers due to a "green" drought that has emerged throughout areas of the south-west, Steve and Sue Giblin were pleased to receive $1550 a head for fourth- and fifth-calved Angus cows at Warrnambool's April store cattle market.
STORE cattle values ascended to new heights thanks to keen feeder demand at Warrnambool on Friday.
Selling some 2300 head in its monthly store market, feeder steers, 418kg, and carrying EU-accreditation, soared to sale high of 269c/kg, while 373kg black heifers made to best of 247c/kg.
As many as a dozen feeder and processor orders competed throughout the hotly-contested market which also enjoyed the strong support from a growing band of lower southeast SA restockers and interest from western and eastern Riverina districts after recent flow-up falls of rain in each of those areas.
