PRIME lamb producers, as well as people who sell rams for prime lamb production, have been invited to participate in a research project designed to explore influences within the Victorian lamb industry that support or hinder adoption of genetic improvement by lamb producers.
This study aims to understand Victorian producers' perceptions and experiences of genetic measures (specifically Australian sheep breeding values) for improving their farms productivity and profitability.
If you agree to participate you will be asked to join a focus group discussion that will take between two to three hours of your time.
The information you provide will remain anonymous and your participation is voluntary. The results from the focus group discussion will be analysed as part of a PhD thesis.
This will provide findings that may be of value to the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR formerly DEPI) and other lamb industry organisations that could assist in developing approaches to support and reinforce innovation.
This study is being conducted by Erica Schelfhorst, a Bestwool/BestLamb facilitator who is also a PhD research student at the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Science at the University of Melbourne.
