A total clearance of the 103 Dorper and White Dorper rams was achieved at the fifth annual Wentworth and District Dorper and White Dorper sale held recently.
The crowd at the Wentworth Showgrounds in western NSW was larger than in previous years and watched a very buoyant sale, reflecting the sense of urgency in the ram market.
Repeat buyers from the local district and further afield, including from White Cliffs in northern NSW, Orroroo in South Australia and Gippsland, snapped up the draft that was capped at 103 lots to maintain high quality.
Volume buyers included local lamb producers the Griffiths family, Baymore Station, and John and Leanne Clothier, Polia Station, along with Peter and Luke Finch, Monolon Props, White Cliffs.
Overall, the 52 White Dorpers offered av $2034 and the 51 Dorpers av $1500.
In the breakdown, Dust N Rain, Pooncarie, NSW, achieved the top prices and the highest averages for both the White Dorper and Dorper categories, selling to $4000 for White Dorpers, av $3056, and to $2500, av $2200, for Dorpers.
