RETALLACK's successful showing season continued at the Australian Sheep & Wool Show on Saturday, when their grand champion Border Leicester ewe and ram fought it out for supreme.
The August 2012-drop ewe took out the ultimate title, with judge Ian Carr saying she had tremendous length and scale, beautiful head and wool.
Retallack stud principal Graham Grinter, Ariah Park, NSW, said the ewe was undefeated at show.
She had won grand champion ewe at Bendigo in 2013, among many other accolades, including supreme long wool ewe at the 2014 Canberra Show, supreme Border ewe at 2014 Bombala Show supreme ewe at the 2014 Cooma Show, and reserve junior champion ewe at the 2013 Sydney Show.
Mr Grinter said the wins made their passion for showing worth the effort.
The ewe was by Centre Punch, who had High Tensile bloodlines - a popular bloodline that Mr Grinter said had been very successful within their stud.
She was in-lamb to Exceed & Excel - the grand champion ram and was due to lamb in just over a month.
The ewe and the ram (which had both won junior champion at Bendigo in 2013) will now go on to Hamilton Sheepvention, Adelaide Show, and Melbourne Show.
Graham and Isabella Grinter were also named most successful Border Leicester exhibitors.
