VICTORIA’s Mertex Texel stud, Antwerp, has won the supreme exhibit Texel at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show at Bendigo today with a quality ewe.
The grand champion ewe beat a huge, well-muscled ram from Bill and Karen Agnew’s Willaren Texel stud, Millicent, in South Australia.
WA judge Jan Glover, Jim Jan stud, Boyup Brook, said the ewe and ram had great muscle and length and it was a tough call.
“I went for the ewe because she will look after the lamb and I am very interested to see the progeny that she produces,” she said.
Summit Park, Hamilton, won reserve champion ram while Tullamore Park, Donald, won reserve champion ewe.
