AN EXCELLENT yarding of cattle went under the hammer at Yea today, with competition strong across the board.
The offering included a large line of weaned steers and heifers, with a big consignment coming in from a dispersal.
Buying support included the live shipping order for Angus steers to Russia.
Weaned steers, 8-10 months, mostly returned $700-$790, with a high of $860.
Many of these sales made the live weight equivalent of 220-260c/kg.
Heifers sold at firm rates from $615-$755 for the heavier and yearling types.
Younger heifers realised $450-$585 or 170-201c/kg.
A large line of 125 Angus cows and calves sold from $1040-$1400.
