Yea Yarding 1015
Steers to $930
Heifers to $860
Cows and Calves to $1380
THE yarding of store cattle offered at Yea, August 8, was relatively small, and did not have the usual quality seen at this venue. However, the cattle were well-bred, but generally in store condition with the exception of a good number of the heifers.
It is very wet in this district and some of the cattle were sold because of this. There was better competition from Gippsland, which combated with locals, feedlots and processors, which created a very good sale.
Commencing the sale was three pens of yearling and 4 teeth Angus and Charolais steers, offered by P&L Dickinson, Marysville. These 26 steers sold to $930, to average $894.
The balance of the yarding of steers sold mostly between $650 & $790, and it took a long time to fall below $700. Hazelglen Park, Arthurs Creek, sold 25 Angus steers from $740-$790, and GW&ME Oliver, Homewood, sold 24 Angus steers to $770, to average $768.

D Chisholm & Sons, Fernside, sold 23 Angus-Hereford steers $715, av $698, and JP&YG Kelly, Alexandra, sold 31 Charolais & Angus steers to $655, av $650.
Cows and calves were mixed in age and quality, and sold to varying competition. SR Shaw, Mansfield sold 7 Hereford-Angus cows, with 2nd CAF to 6 months, which were in excellent condition, and sold to $1380. Reefton Park, Thornton, sold 14 Angus-Murray Grey cows with 15 CAF, for $1130, and the balance of the cows and calves sold between $860 & $940.

A single 2 year old heifer sold for $830, but RA Hipwell, Killingworth, sold 16 Charolais heifers, Fallsview & Paringa blood, to $860, av $816.
