SPRING ram selling season has started strongly and the trend continued at Toland Merinos at Violet Town today.
With more than 50 people in attendance and 36 registered buyers, the Toland’s presented the 90 polls and 10 horned merinos in excellent condition.
The results followed with regular South Australian client Phil and Jackie Muecke, Penola, buying the top priced ram for $3000.
The poll merino ram tested extremely well and had an elite score of 64 with figures of FD 16.5, 2.9 SD, 17.9 CV a comfort factor of 100 per cent.
The ram also had ASBVs of 7.7 YWT, 14.6 YCFW, -1.9 YFD, 0.5 YFAT, 1.5 YEMD and 28 YWEC along with Indexes of 153 MP+ and 157 DP+.
The Toland family sold 94 of the 100 rams on offer including 87 of the 90 polls and seven of the 10 horned rams.
The sale averaged $1633 for the poll merinos and $971 for the horned merinos with a top price of $1800.
The sale finished with six passed in rams but the remainder sold soon after.
