Spike in heifer demand

Frances Toohey was contemplating the good prices they received for their cattle. Pilkington & Toohey, Sandy Point, sold 17 Angus steers for $735, and 22 Angus heifers for $645. Frances said this was the first time in ages when their heifers have sold within cooee of the steers. Through an on-farm university program Danvy Nguyenwas doing a four-day program at the family property.

THE surprise at the Leongatha store sale last week was a big lift in demand for heifers.
