BIDDER confidence sprouted like mushrooms at the Hamilton Euro-breeds weaner sale today, following 30-40 millimetres of overnight drenching rain.
Offering the advertised yarding of 1830 head, buyers from all points converged to contest the market sending cattle as far north as Dirranbandi on NSW-Qld border and Scone in NSW while a solid contingent of Gippsland buyers provided the southern support.
However the underpinning strength of this second-annual Euro-breeds weaner sale was driven by the insatiable appetite of Teys Australia who claimed almost 400-head on the day for its Charlton feedlot operation.
Its haul of both steers and heifers represented about 25 per cent of the total offering which included a 960-head steer yarding that averaged 334kg; 233c/kg lwt and $790 a head, while the 700-yarded heifers averaged 316kg, 219c/kg lwt and $692 a head.
