It was no surprise loyal supporter of the sale Terry Ginnane of Landmark Harcourts Leongatha was a dominant buyer purchasing more than 400 head of mianly Angus and Black Baldy steers to av 222c/kg.
Buyers came from South East South Australia, Gippsland and the northern country including NSW and Queensland.
Orders from Roma, Queensland and Walcha and Tamworth, NSW were filled at the Western District sale which saw majority of the cattle leave the region.
Landmark auctioneer Greg Bright said he was surprised by the consistency of the prices throughout the sale.
“Due to the season more calves went away than normal with Gippsland lot feeders being most active,” Mr Bright said.
“The evenness of the prices really surprised me… majority of the prices were between that 220-230c/kg.
“The yarding might have been a touch lighter than normal due to the season but we were very pleased with how the cattle have come up.”
