PRICES remained strong at today's store cattle sale at Bairnsdale, with 1097 cattle yarded and steers selling to 216 cents-a-kilogram.
There was a lot of yearling stock on the market and cows and calves.
With the sale of some properties in the district, there were some lines of stock being dispersed, including cow and calf units from Billy & Marg McMahon, Walpa, and from Robert & Loris Hall, Lindenow.
And Tablelands, Maffra, sent in 100 head of cattle, selling Hereford weaner steers to $840.
Ms Elizabeth Benton, Timbarra, sent in Hereford steers, mixed ages up to 24 months, that returned a top of $1290/head.
Prices were strong for younger steers too.
Donna Tupper Lucas sold a pen of 11 Hereford steers, 522kg, for $1130 each or 216c/kg.
DG&RJ Thompson sold Black baldy steers, six-months-old, for $800 each.
Peter Martin, Bengworden, sold Charolais cows and calves for $1410/unit.
